The first CWA Gift Shop in Hobart opened in 1942 in rented rooms at 44 Murray Street, moving to its current home at 165 Elizabeth Street in 1951. Originally a butcher’s shop and hotel, this building was purchased for £7,500 and was debt-free within 10 years. CWA members brought their goods into the shop to sell to help their families through tough times. Today, our iconic shops across the State have amassed a vast network of local, national, and international customers.
