A group of CWA members participated in the Walk Against Elder Abuse held in Hobart, organised by the Council on the Ageing (COTA). Members of the public attended as well as prominent community members. Purple has been deemed as the identifiable colour to represent elder abuse and many walkers wore the colour in various forms. The walk was around the main city block, finishing with an address and morning tea put on by the Council for the Ageing (COTA). Following an address by a COTA member, we heard a moving account from a victim of abuse, her struggles and her journey to safety.
By joining this walk, CWA members showed their support and helped to draw attention to this often hidden issue.
