The Country Women’s Association (CWA) has been the heart of rural and regional communities across Tasmania for nine decades. We’re a not-for-profit, non-party-political and non-sectarian incorporated association of volunteer women from all walks of life, united by a shared commitment to making a real difference. Through friendship, advocacy, and action, we create lasting change that strengthens families and communities statewide.

For 90 years, our projects, advocacy, and fundraising have created tangible results for communities across the State, such as road safety improvements, supporting local community projects, and children’s literacy.

Fundraising Goes Back to the Community
I always wanted to join the CWA. On moving to Tasmania, I was looking for an organisation to join to meet people and help develop friendships. A member provided an insight into what the CWA does – It’s not just scones and tea! I found everyone so welcoming and friendly, making me feel like part of a big family – I haven’t looked back!

I became a member to foster community connections by bringing together women from diverse cultures to support, empower, encourage and share their experiences. To showcase the impactful work of CWA and build connections with other organisations. I am proud to be the first Pacific Islander (Samoan) to lead this Branch and I believe it’s the first multicultural CWA in Australia.
