Purchase something special from the CWA.
The first C.W.A Gift shop in Hobart opened in 1942 in rented rooms being located at 44 Murray St followed by a move to Mathers Lane in 1949. In 1951 a building at 165 Elizabeth St was purchased at a cost of seven thousand, five hundred pounds. (approx. $15.000.00) and within 10 years the building was completely free of debt. Information has been given that 165 Elizabeth St was originally a Butcher’s shop and a Hotel before our purchase.
C.W.A members bought their goods into the shop to sell and to help them and their families through tough times. The C.W.A Hobart Gift Shop will celebrate its 80th year in 2022.
The CWA Gift Shop in Hobart has many subscribers’ who sell handcraft, produce, cakes, jam, flowers, craft, and special occasion gifts, etc. Members join and are given a number, and this is the only identifier on their products. So rather than ask for Mrs. Smiths’ lovely strawberry jam, the request is for number 007’s strawberry jam - no spies involved we promise! This iconic shop alongside our other shops across the state has amassed a vast network of local, national, and international customers.
Thanks to the dedicated team of volunteers and our shop Managers who keep our C.W.A shops ticking over, even during the pandemics.
Our very first branch in Hobart still delights customers over 80 years since it first opened its doors in 1942.

Market Stalls - If you aren’t situated near one of our physical shops you might be able to catch us at one of our regular market stalls.
Market stalls hosted by CWA in Tas branches are held around the state at various times and locations.
Presence at these markets may change according to seasonality and member availability.
CWA stalls may also be found at your local country show or larger events such as AGFEST.
